In this week’s Microsoft IT news, we have some exciting updates regarding three important news items. 1. SharePoint eSignature electronic signature service: Microsoft has introduced SharePoint eSignature, a first-party electronic signature service that allows users to easily request eSignatures on PDF documents via SharePoint online. This service will be rolled out to the US in late November 2023 and to other regions in 2024. Organizations will be able to easily request signatures from PDFs in SharePoint online, and signed documents will be saved back to the folder from where the request originated. To set up SharePoint eSignature, please refer to the Admin support documentation. 2. Audio and video flyout and settings in Teams meetings: Microsoft has updated the audio and video flyouts in Teams meetings to enable users to efficiently manage their audio and video settings. Users can access these features during a meeting by clicking the split button with a downward arrow next to the camera and microphone in the meeting toolbar. From the flyouts, users can access audio and video settings, which open as panels on the right side of the calling window. These updates will be rolled out in late January 2024. 3. Device Management Changes for Microsoft Teams Android Devices: Microsoft has announced changes to the device management for Microsoft Teams Android devices. The new Microsoft device ecosystem platform built on the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) will be introduced, delivering state-of-the-art security, reliability, and manageability with Microsoft Intune. The firmware update to migrate devices from Android device administrator to Android AOSP management will be rolled out in 2024. Eligible Microsoft Teams Android devices will receive a manual firmware update in Teams Admin Center, and eventually, the firmware update will be scheduled as an automatic firmware update. Admins will need to create new policies under the Intune Android (AOSP) platform to support their Microsoft Teams Android Devices. These are the three most important news items for this week.
